Right now, 43.5 million Americans live with a mental health diagnosis and do not receive care because they can’t afford it. This leads to tragic and deadly consequences that profoundly impact lives, families, communities, schools and workplaces.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
The InherisAI Mental Health Fund connects people who can’t afford care with people who want to help, moving gifts straight to the point of care so care is possible. It’s simple: we are a national nonprofit network of people helping people live better lives.
Seeking care is often scary and overwhelming. Demand has never been higher, and the door keeps closing. Providers are leaving insurance networks. Public programs are stretched thin. People who finally find the courage to reach out are shut out because they can’t afford the visit.
Insured or not, most people can’t absorb a $400 bill, let alone months of copays, high deductibles, or the full cost of treatment with the right provider who takes no insurance. Affordability is the number-one barrier to care.
That’s the gap we close. Government and insurance never will. Our donors reach the real people caught between needing care and being able to afford it.
Real people, caught in the gap between needing care and being able to afford it. Government and insurance will never provide the funding needed to address the crisis — which is exactly the gap Inheris closes. Hover over a portrait to read their story.
Someone can be you. Giving here is simple, joyful, and connective. We take out the complicated parts so donors like you can support real people to get care right now. No gift is too small. Together, many gifts add up to lives changed.
Donors chose the impact they want their gift to make (teens in South Phoenix battling addiction, veterans in rural areas enduring PTSD, new mothers struggling with postpartum depression). Donors may be as specific or as broad as they like. A gift of any size joins a pooled fund dedicated to the impact the donor wants to have.
We match donor intent to individuals with a verified financial need. Gifts are pooled into Care Awards of $2,500 each, the average cost to access up to six months of treatment for one person who otherwise would delay or defer care.
Treatment begins with a vetted provider of each individual’s choosing. Selecting the right provider, not just the one willing to take a particular insurance or offering a sliding scale option, is critical to better treatment outcomes and lasting functional improvement.
Today we’re working with leading providers across 36 states. Together we’ve identified more than 300,000 children and adults with a mental health diagnosis who qualify for Care Awards now and are awaiting treatment, including veterans and first responders, domestic violence survivors, and people facing depression, anxiety, addiction, and suicidal ideation.
“Early intervention is particularly crucial for children with mental health issues, and the cost of care is often a barrier to obtaining help. The speed with which InherisAI can bridge this gap for underserved populations by providing immediate funding for care while the patient is in the building is vital to helping meet patients where they are at RIGHT NOW.”
— Angela Pon · Mind24/7
“The program is an amazing way to help people caught in the gap due to insurance copays and high deductibles.”
— Dr. Robin Potter · Biltmore Psychology
“This is groundbreaking! We’re in the process of starting an IOP program for SUD and MH. This program could potentially assist with support.”
— Dr. D’Anthony Harris · Interlinked Counseling
“It expands access to behavioral health services when a patient needs it, which is so important given the life-threatening risks associated with delayed care.”
— Sean Peterson · CEO, Strata Behavioral Health
